Hi Nick, I would recommend danios or large tetras like blacks, head and tail lights, red eyes, etc. The best thing for the overdosing on chemicals would be water changes. It is very normal for one of the clowns to become dominant and turn into a female.

Looking for Red Tail Sharks. Need larger one, like 3″+.

  3. By tropi26, September 13, 2012 @ 4:55 pm

Hi Ryan, we currently do not have a redtail shark that is bigger than 3 inches. We do periodically get them in from customers whose tanks they have out grown. Keep checking back to see their availability.

Ok I went to the store and got my water tested, it is definately not the problem. But, Jenny thought my lights might be the problem. Here is my lighting: 2, 24 watt bulbs, 1 is 10,000k, the other is 420/460 nm, I dont know what the second measurement is. My aquarium Is about 20 inches deep and 25-30 gallons. The lighting seems correct to me, what do you think, and If it is wrong, what do I do? All 3 mushrooms are in near full light.

  5. By tropi26, September 14, 2012 @ 11:29 am

Hi Nick, doesn’t sound like your lighting unless they need to be replaced. Do you use a reef salt, I would recommend Fluval Sea, do you supplement and feed your corals?

  6. By Nick, September 15, 2012 @ 11:51 am

I feed my mushrooms with Coralife, 2 times a week, straight to the corals(not just poured in the water. I also put in some frozen brine shrimp once or twice a week, but not directly to mushrooms. Not sure about reef salt, I have some salt I use for water changes but it is not labeled.

  7. By tropi26, September 15, 2012 @ 2:08 pm

Hi Nick, I would highly recommend a reef salt or water changes with a reef salt, like stated above the Fluval Sea works great. I would supplement to whole system with the Fluval brand 3 Ions and trace elements on a weekly basis. This is what we do in our systems and our corals do great!

  8. By Anna, September 15, 2012 @ 4:50 pm

How do your prices range for fresh water fish?

  9. By tropi26, September 16, 2012 @ 12:55 pm

Hi Anna, our freshwater fish start at about 99cents and go up. We have the biggest selection of fish in the Chippewa Valley so stop in and check us out!

  10. By Nick, September 16, 2012 @ 4:52 pm

What is the exact products you would sudgest I use( for water changes and supplementation)?

  11. By tropi26, September 17, 2012 @ 10:51 am

Hi Nick, it would be best if you could stop in and we will show you the salt and supplements we recommend.

  12. By Nick, September 17, 2012 @ 9:27 pm

Ok, I’ll be in ASAP, I appreciate the help, when I go to the store, who should I ask for(who is updated on my situation?).

  13. By tropi26, September 21, 2012 @ 10:04 am

I would recommend Michelle, Carlee, or Jim

  14. By Nick, September 21, 2012 @ 3:54 pm

Ok I was at the shop and I got the supplements, I was wondering if you ever get cope pods?

  15. By Joel Medina, September 22, 2012 @ 12:32 am

Hi, I bought a terrarium not sure what size but I was just wondering if I could fill it with water? And if so would it be suitable for my pirahnas? Thanx…

  16. By tropi26, September 22, 2012 @ 11:19 am

Nick, we do get them from time to time.

  17. By tropi26, September 22, 2012 @ 11:20 am

Hi Joel, it depends on the type of terrarium, the exoterra ones we sell will hold water but can only be filled a portion of the way up.

  18. By Joel Medina, September 22, 2012 @ 1:39 pm

Okay well I have a regular terrarium. But there’s a label that say to not fill wih water? Normally I wouldn’t but I got a great deal on it. Could I bring it in and have you guys check it out?

  19. By tropi26, September 22, 2012 @ 5:12 pm

Joel, Since it says not to fill it with water, I wouldn’t bother bringing it in and wouldn’t fill it with water then.

  20. By Joel Medina, September 22, 2012 @ 5:20 pm

Alright thanks for all your help.

  21. By Joel Medina, September 22, 2012 @ 8:43 pm

How much do your 30-40 gallon aquariums range from price wise?

  22. By Joel Medina, September 24, 2012 @ 4:28 am

Okay I bought I 55gal tank how much would the hood and light cost? Also I have a jack depsey I believe it is, just wondering would you guys take it in to rehome it? Just don’t have the time for so many aquariums….thanks!

  23. By tropi26, September 24, 2012 @ 12:50 pm

Hi Joel, a hood and light for a 55 gallon tank would run about $100 to $120 depending on what you went with. If you wanted us to take the Jack Dempsey in we could be we can not give you anything for it.

Looking to change my rock in my 75 gallon tank. Is it necessary to have an undergravel filter?
    Tx

  25. By tropi26, September 28, 2012 @ 4:22 pm

Hi Jim, You do not need a undergravel filter, there are many other options that are easier to maintain and do a better job at filtering than those systems. If you stop in we can so you a more effecient filter.

Can I order an Acei cichlid through you? I’ve been searching for one for months & finally have my 55 set up with an Electric Yellow & a non-aggressive Oscar.

  27. By tropi26, October 1, 2012 @ 11:52 am

Hi Dee, no need to special order them we currently have them in stock, they are $9.99.

  28. By Dee, October 1, 2012 @ 5:28 pm

Sweet, I’m about an hour away so I will make it there soon! Thanks!

I am wondering what fish would go great with three assorted angel fish and a rubber lip pleco in my 30 gal tank

  30. By Nick, November 5, 2012 @ 8:29 pm

Hi, I am starting a freshwater planted shrimp tank (10 gal). I bought 8.8 pounds of the soil stuff from you. I was wondering how much wattage I would need to keep plants alive in a 10 gallon. My current hood will not fit enough lighting so I must get a whole new fixture on the top. I am also wondering about the price range( I will probably need a whole new glass/plastic top on the tank. Thanks!

  31. By tropi26, November 8, 2012 @ 11:54 am

Hi Ben, there are many options for fish that would get along with what you currently have. It would be easier if you stopped in and picked out several fish that you like and then we can let you know what will work best for you.

  32. By Jake, November 24, 2012 @ 3:03 pm

Hi, I was wondering if adding a bubbler to an aquarium will help plants grow(freshwater).

  33. By tropi26, November 25, 2012 @ 11:48 am

Hi Jake, a bubbler in an aquarium will not help plants to grow. Plants need adequate lighting, Carbon Dioxide, and fertilizers (fish waste) to grow properly. Lighting is probably the most important.

  34. By Nicole, November 28, 2012 @ 11:43 am

I was wondering if you guys buy fish? I have a 7 in black sucker fish that is to big for our tank and want to get rid of it.

  35. By tropi26, November 29, 2012 @ 10:43 am

Hi Nicole, at this point we are still in the process of setting up the rest of our tanks after our move. We currently don’t have any bigger tanks to put a 7″ fish in.

  36. By Jake, December 2, 2012 @ 10:52 pm

Do you have any decorative wood(real wood, not plastic) for a planted freshwater at the moment?

  37. By tropi26, December 3, 2012 @ 10:37 am

Yes Jake, we do have various pieces of driftwood that can be used in aquariums. Most of them are mounted on a piece of rock so they do not float.

  38. By Nick, December 20, 2012 @ 5:49 pm

How much do your Panda Gara Gara’s cost and how many could you fit in a 10 gal with nothing else (but 2 ghost shrimp).

  39. By tropi26, December 22, 2012 @ 10:47 am

Hi Nick, they are $4.99. They get about 2″ so you probably only want 4 or 5 in a 10 gallon tank.

  40. By Nick, December 24, 2012 @ 7:48 pm

I have a pregnant ghost shrimp that I expect to have its babies in about a week. Do I have to feed the fry a specific “green water” or something, and do you have it? Also what are the chances of the fry surviving with 2, 1″, panda gara gara’s and 2 ghost shrimp without feeding the fry a special food? There is plants in the tank but I have no idea how much is enough to hide the fry. Thanks! (10 gallon by the way).

  41. By kyle, May 14, 2013 @ 8:14 pm

hi i am looking for some fish that are not over 4$ that will look good in my tropical tank

  42. By tropi26, May 15, 2013 @ 10:55 am

Hi Kyle, danios would probably be a good fish for your tank depending on what the tank mates are. They are an hardy inexpensive fish that get along with several types of fish.

  43. By Cass, May 18, 2013 @ 11:35 am

Do you take local juveniles? Specifically, live bearers such as platys?

  44. By tropi26, May 18, 2013 @ 4:54 pm

Hi Cass, yes we do take platys off people hands. We like them to be a good inch in size and we don’t typically pay for them. Give us a call before bringing them in to make sure we have room for them.
