Birds
Here at Tropic Waters Pet Center we carry a wide variety of birds. Regularly stocked birds include a variety of finches, canaries, parakeets, and cockatiels. We support our local community by purchasing locally raised birds when possible.
When available we carry lovebirds, small and large parrots, and other parrot like birds. Every spring we receive baby birds that are hand fed and weaned right here in the store! We also deal with second hand birds, these birds range greatly in breed and price depending on each individual bird.
6-1-11
Our pair of lovebirds laid 5 eggs about a month ago and we currently have two growing babies!! The other eggs should start hatching in the next few days. The babies will stay with their parents until they are about two weeks old and at that point we will start handing feeding them. Allowing them to feed from their parents for the first two weeks of life gives the babies the antibodies that they need to build a healthy immune system. Hand feeding the babies will make them friendly as they age. It is crucial to do this at a young age so they adjust to being handled by humans. We are excited to see their colors and personalities as they grow, it has been a while since we have had baby birds in the store!

Hi Madalyn, we did recently purchase a second hand Umbrella Cockatoo a couple of weeks ago. We don’t feel that she is ready for sale just yet, but if you are interested stop in and talk to Jim. He will be able to answer any other questions you may have.

Hi do you ever get and lories?
By tropi26, April 19, 2012 @ 1:38 pm
We have carried Lories from time to time, but we do not have one in stock currently. They have been a hard bird to find the last couple of years. So far we are not expecting any in this spring, babies birds are hard to find this year.

Wonderin if u get any yellow collared macaws in?
By tropi26, May 21, 2012 @ 2:32 pm
Hi Sarah, we have never had a yellow collared macaw, but we have had blue & gold and scarlets in the past several years. We currently do not have any and probably won’t have any this spring. Our breeder in Florida, didn’t have much for baby birds so we weren’t able to order any.

Do you have any Conure birds? And how much?
By tropi26, August 6, 2012 @ 4:07 pm
Hi Melodye, right now the only two parolettes we have are our store pets, we don’t get to many people with them in this area. Currently for finches we have zebras and gouldians.
By tropi26, August 8, 2012 @ 12:26 pm
We sold our last green cheek conure, we will not see any babies more than likely until next spring, unless they are second hand.

Hi i was wondering fi u have any parakeets that know how to step up and if u do what is the gender?
By tropi26, September 8, 2012 @ 11:04 am
Hi Mariah, all of our parakeets that we get in are parent raised so they are not used to being handled. Once and a while we will get in a friendlier one but they typically don’t step up. You will want to look for a hand fed parakeet. They are more used to people handling them and could be taught to step up.
