Birds
Here at Tropic Waters Pet Center we carry a wide variety of birds. Regularly stocked birds include a variety of finches, parakeets, and cockatiels. We support our local community by purchasing locally raised birds when possible. When available we carry lovebirds, small and large parrots, and other parrot like birds. We also deal with second hand birds, these birds range greatly in breed and price depending on each individual bird. Birds are very intelligent animals and typically live a very long time, these need to be considered when deciding if a bird is right for you. The birds pictured do not reflect our current stock on hand, please stop in to check out our current availability of birds.
Cockatiels
Cockatiels are among the most popular pet birds. They are attractive, friendly, and easy to tame. They are capable of mimicking speech, although they can be difficult to understand. However, they are quite good at whistling and can often be taught to whistle tunes. Cockatiels on average live 15-20 years and make good pets for children under supervision.
Parakeets (Budgies)
Parakeets are such beautiful birds, they come in a wide variety of colors. They are small in size, which makes them easy to keep and care for. They can be taught a small vocabulary, and enjoy whistling. They are compaion birds and enjoy the company of other parakeets. With proper care and socialization thay make a great addition to most families. Parakeets live an average of 6-10 years but many have lived into their teens!
.
Finches
Finches are charming and delightful pets perfect for almost any space or schedule. They prefer their own company, which makes them an ideal pet for someone with not a lot of time. Finches come in a variety of colors and personalities. The birds live an average of four to seven years, but some have lived much longer. Finches do not like to live alone; keeping them in pairs is strongly suggested.
Conures and Large Parrots
Conures and parrots range greatly in size, personality, and lifespan. They require long term care, potential to exceed 50 years in some species. We often refer to them as having a 2 year old for the rest of your life. They take a huge committment from their owner and enjoy a lot of quality personal interaction.
We occasionally have handfed babies to second hand adults in our store.
Canaries and Lovebirds
We occasionally have canaries, lovebirds, and other varieties of birds available. If you are searching for something don't hesitate to give us a call. 715-832-0174
